Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 11, 2022) follows:

Elden Ring arrived a few weeks ago as the latest From Software game, the same creators of games such as the Demon/Dark Souls saga, Bloodborne and Sekiro.

Just like other From Software games, Elden Ring offers a challenging difficulty where every enemy can be quite a challenge if you don’t calculate every move you make.

Elden Ring also boasts a huge open world to explore where you can find many items, weapons, armor and more. However, some players are experiencing issues when trying to find certain weapons.

According to reports, some players are unable to obtain ‘The Rivers of Blood Katana’ as the Bloody Finger Okina NPC is not spawning (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).

Elden Ring Bloody Finger Okina not spawning

‘The Rivers of Blood Katana’ is one of the most attractive weapons in the game. It allows you to unleash a powerful high speed samurai-style combo that deals significant damage.

To get the Rivers of Blood Katana, you need to go to the Mountaintops of the Giants zone. There will be the Church of Repose, where the Bloody Finger Okina NPC will spawn to invade you.

Bloody Finger Okina will drop the Rivers of Blood Katana and the Okina Mask after you defeat him. However, some players can’t get the weapon as the Bloody Finger Okina is not spawning.

Bloody Finger Okina wont spawn

im at the church and have defeated the big fire guy (so i dont spoil) where and when does the guy spawn, how do i fix/ spawn okina

In some cases, Bloody Finger Okina does appear, but you don’t get the Rivers of Blood Katana upon defeating the NPC.

I have also beaten the boss here, and Okina does not spawn for me as well. That should not be the case though. An Invasion and a boss fight should not correspond with one another so hopefully it will get fixed.

It could not be an issue but a gameplay mechanic, potential workaround

Some players suggest that Bloody Finger Okina’s invasions stop once you kill the area boss (the Fire Giant). If that happens, you will have to complete the game and start New Game+ to get the Rivers of Blood Katana.

Pretty sure that happens when killing the Fire Giant , I’ve done that before I knew there was an invade supposed to happen and now it doesnt spawn for me either , which is pretty fudging dumb if you ask me , no way to get the weapon until getting there again in NG+

So, to get the Katana, make sure you defeat Bloody Finger Okina before facing the Fire Giant.

This seems to be one of the gameplay mechanics that players interpret as an issue for not knowing them. A similar situation occurred recently with the loss of runes in Stormveil Castle area.

However, there is still no explanation for the issue where some players don’t get the Katana after defeating Bloody Finger Okina.

We will update this story once new developments on the matter emerge in the future.
