Developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, Sims 4 is a social simulation game that was released in September of 2014.

Building on its predecessor, the game improves many areas such as character customization, housebuilding tools, and a new emotion and personality system.

Owing to the huge popularity of the game, the developers have released eleven expansion packs that help the gameplay feel fresh. They have also added new things like swimming pools and terrain tools.

That said, EA recently released the v1.88 Pronouns update that brings in new content.

But not everything seems to be going according to plan. Sims 4 players are now reporting that the game is either freezing or lagging ever since the Pronouns update (1,2,3,4,5).

When i’m building (or playing I assume but i’m not sure cause i’ve only been building), my game will freeze for 3-5 seconds but the game never crashes it’ll just freeze and say not responding and then go back to normal and my game runs fine with no lag otherwise. I already cleared my cache and repaired the game which made it happen less often but it’s still happening. I also updated and restarted my computer but i can’t think of anything else to try or any other solutions

Hope this is allowed, I was wondering if others were experiencing this problem since the update – which I assumed was only a minor one with an update to pronouns in the English version and 2 bug updates – but now my game is almost unplayable even without mods! I am soo happy to have this update that its making me want to play again, but I can’t! I’ve restarted my pc and repaired the base game and all the packs I use but the freezing every 5 minutes is still there 🙁 Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thankfully, an EA Community Manager commented on the issue and said the Sims 4 development team is aware of the freezing and lagging issue after the Pronouns update and that it is currently under investigation.

However, there is no timeframe of when it will be fixed.
