Even three years after its release, Apex Legends remains one of the most played Battle Royale titles on the planet. Over time, the developers added several new maps to the game.

One of them is the Olympus map that was released in Season 7. With the start of Season 12, the developers made some changes and made Olympus bigger than before while adding some new points of interest and improved the loot pool.

But now, it looks like many Apex Legends players are facing FPS drops or performance issues (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) whenever they play on Olympus.

The majority of these reports claim that the FPS drops are making it unplayable with many forced to play the game below 30 FPS.

As it turns out, the majority of console players seem to be affected right now with a few reports from PC players saying that the performance has dropped for them as well.

Apex Legends players said they tried uninstalling and installing the game but the problems persisted. Here are some reports from Apex Legends players affected by FPS drops and performance issues.

I’ve never seen a performance drop like this. Strafing on a 1v1 feels unresponsive as hell because of it. To this day I still can’t understand why we don’t have the option to tone down graphical settings like on PC . I know it’s been getting worse and worse each season but this one is definitely the worst one of them all. What’s peculiar is that olympus hasn’t really changed that much to justify this performance drop. Please they need to listen to this. I don’t know if it will apply to every map but so far olympus is unplayable

On previous iterations of Olympus, many users struggled with low FPS. Below the map was a cloudy atmosphere. And now with this update, the area below the playable map is an entire cityscape complete with skyscrapers and the like. This is undoubtedly causing frames issues. I doubt old hardware can handle loading those textures beneath the map while also loading all the action on the map. Just my thoughts on that.

Thankfully, Apex Legends developers Respawn Entertainment has acknowledged the issue and said that they were aware and investigating FPS drops on Olympus after the recent update.

Heads up, legends: We’re aware of and investigating an issue causing frame rate loss on Olympus for our PS4, Xbox 1, and Switch players. More info to come as we have it.

However, they did not share any ETA on when the performance issues will be fixed. We hope EA soon releases a patch that resolves these issues since the game is unplayable for console players right now.

Update 1 (February 11)

05:37 pm (IST): Respawn has come out to acknowledge the issue causing frame rate loss on Olympus for PS4, Xbox 1, and Switch players. Support says that they are currently investigating it.

Update 2 (February 15)

10:15 am (IST): Respawn assured its players that they have identified the cause of the performance issue and are working on resolving it. Moreover, the fix will arrive in future updates.
