Here’s the crux of the article in video form:

Every passing day draws us closer to the Pixel 8a release date. Google hasn’t confirmed the official date, but signs are clear that we are getting closer to the phone’s launch. Smartprix, in collaboration with Kamila Wojciechowska, has published a set of exclusive Pixel 8a wallpapers to give us a glimpse of what Andrew Zuckerman and Google are working on.

The Pixel 8a is expected to launch at the Google I/O 2024 event in May, although this date isn’t confirmed. We have already seen several leaks showcasing the expected design of the phone. The phone will reportedly borrow some design cues from its pricier siblings and perhaps even the camera sensor, although there’s no guarantee about the optics.

Now, to add to what we already know, Smartprix has just shared some of the stock wallpapers that will come prebaked into the Pixel 8a. The ‘Minerals’ collection has three new wallpapers with a light and dark variant depending on the prevailing display settings. You can pick from Titanite wallpapers codenamed “emerald”, Barite wallpapers codenamed “sky” and Hematite wallpapers codenamed ‘licorice’. There is also talks of an additional wallpaper codenamed ‘Porcelain’.

If some of these Pixel 8a wallpaper codenames sound familiar, it’s because they are. The Bay color on the Pixel 8 Pro was codenamed “sky” while the Pixel 8’s Obsidian color was codenamed “licorice”. As for what you get, sky gets you a mineral in sky-blue color, licorice gets you the mineral in a dark black hue while emerald gets you a green emerald stone. As noted, all three come in light and dark variants.

Below are the leaked wallpapers, but if you want to download the high-quality versions, head over to Smartprix.
