DolphiniOS stable version arrives with GameCube/Wii support for jailbroken iPhone/iPad

We are now miles ahead of Spacewar, which is the first known video game to be played at multiple computer installations. A decade after its release, Magnavox launched the Magnavox Odyssey, first home video game console that one could connect to the TV.

Today, Nintendo tops the list with more than a dozen gaming consoles (home and handheld products) under their umbrella. For those who want to relive their childhood memories, emulators like Dolphin are available to bring those Nintendo games to other devices.

Dolphin emulator brings GameCube/Wii games to Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. And, iOS users have been craving to get their hands on it. By putting a full-stop to the desires, an initial build of DolphiniOS went live a week ago.

The release note itself read the version wasn’t suitable for general use, hinting at the hiccups it might cause. Guess what, the stable build has just gone live! Obviously, we didn’t expect it to come out in just 7 days’ time.

Let me walk you through the process of running GameCube/Wii titles on your iPhone/iPad. Before that, make sure your device has jailbroken privileges. Although we heard it would work only on checkra1n jailbreak, users confirm DolphiniOS shows no issues on Chimera, unc0ver, or u0.

First, you need to visit this repo from jailbroken iOS and use Add to Cydia button. Then, you have to search for DolphiniOS for the installation. In order to add games to your library, tap the ‘+’ button on the top-right corner. Without pirating the ROMS, you can rip Wii titles using this tutorial.

What if you don’t want to jailbreak your iDevice and still want to enjoy the benefits of DolphiOS? Well, as of now, you have to stay put because it uses a certain entitlement (dynamic-codesigning) only available for third-party tools after jailbreaking.
