Discord ‘Super Reactions‘ is a relatively new feature that has been introduced for Nitro users, enhancing the way they can express themselves and interact with messages.

With Super Reactions, users can add animated effects to their chosen emoji when reacting to a message. Nitro users get 5 Super Reactions per week while Nitro Basic and Classic users only get 2 Super Reactions per week.

It was intended to provide a fun and visually appealing way to engage with content on Discord.

However, recent changes by Discord to the Super Reactions button location have caused some discontent among users (1,2,3,4,5).

Previously, Super Reactions were located in a separate area from regular reactions. However, Discord made the decision to change the placement, integrating Super Reactions into the spot where normal reactions used to be.

This alteration has led to some accidental usage of Super Reactions, as users who were accustomed to the previous layout found themselves mistakenly activating Super Reactions instead of regular ones.

The accidental use of Super Reactions has become a source of frustration for several users.

Not only are they restricted by a limited number of Super Reactions per week, but they also end up spending them unnecessarily due to the new button placement.

Shoutout to me accidentally doing a Super Reaction on Discord, multiple times. Very fun, perfect feature, zero notes

This change has disrupted users’ muscle memory and has caused them to question Discord’s decision to alter the user interface (UI) in this way.

On top of this the limitation of Super Reactions to only 5 per week for Nitro users, and even fewer (2 per week) for Nitro Basic and Classic users, has further impacted the user experience (1,2,3).

Discord likely implemented this limitation to encourage users to cherish and save their Super Reactions for something special.

However, it seems to have had the unintended consequence of causing users to refrain from using Super Reactions altogether, to the point where they may have forgotten about the feature’s existence.

Non-Nitro users want an option to remove the button for this feature altogether.

For those that dont use super reactions or dont have nitro, can we have a toggle to remove it?

The essence of emoji reactions is to provide a quick and non-disruptive way to acknowledge or express sentiments within a conversation.

While Super Reactions may have been introduced with good intentions, the accidental usage, combined with the limited availability and altered UI, has sparked criticism and dissatisfaction among some users.

Discord should take these concerns into account and consider addressing the issues raised, whether by adjusting the UI or providing users with more flexibility and control over Super Reactions.
