Discord has continued to be a popular communication platform as has kept improving its voice and video chat capabilities, making it a viable alternative to traditional conferencing software.

Discord’s commitment to constantly improving its platform is commendable. With each update, Discord strives to enhance the user experience and cater to the evolving needs of its users.

While some tweaks are welcomed by the community, others are not as much like the Discord’s new username system and the permissions update.

Discord sending random image instead of copied one

A new peculiar bug has been reported by several Discord users where the image sent is completely different from what was intended (1,2,3,4,5,6).

The bug occurs when users copy an image and paste it on Discord. The preview of the image appears to be correct, but once it’s sent, a random image that the user copied previously shows up instead of the intended image.

The bug is not limited to images stored in the camera roll; it also occurs with images that were copied and pasted to a completely separate Discord account.

Discord users have raised concerns about the privacy and security of their images, fearing that their images may be leaked or compromised due to the bug.

Anyone else having issues with their mobile app sending a random image from your camera roll rather than the one you selected? Very weird and could be a massive privacy concern

Is anyone else having this weird issue where they copy a photo from some source, and when they paste and send it, it sends an old image you copy pasted? It’s ONLY happening in discord, I can copy and paste a photo in any other platform

However, Discord users have confirmed that the issue is a visual bug that only affects the sender’s view of the image.

The correct image is still uploaded and can be viewed by the recipient, which means that there is no actual security or privacy threat.

Potential workaround

If you encounter the bug, the easiest solution is to leave the app for a while and go back in. Once you return, the correct image will appear.

Alternatively, you can clear the Discord app cache. This should resolve the issue:

Step 1: On your iPhone, go to the Settings menu.
Step 2: Go to General and click on iPhone Storage.
Step 3: Now, scroll down to find the Discord app and tap on it.
Step 4: Choose ‘Offload App’.

Or

Step 1: Open Discord and click on your profile icon.
Step 2: Step 2: Now, scroll down to the bottom of the screen to find Clear Caches. Tap on it.

Discord must take proactive steps to prevent such bugs in the future and prioritize user security and privacy to maintain its popularity and user trust.
