New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 18, 2021) follows:

Apple released the latest iOS 14.5 beta 2 update not long ago. Being the minor update that it is, not much was expected from the incremental rollout.

But to our surprise, Apple did pack some punch in there, with the new features added to Apple Music among the major highlights. There’s more to this update, though.

According to some user reports, it appears Apple has addressed some of the most annoying issues on the latest iPhone 12 series. Apparently, green tinting and flickering are gone after the update to iOS 14.5 beta 2.

The update to iOS 14.5 beta 2 also brings along support for new actions in the Shortcuts app for taking screenshots, changing orientation lock and cellular data mode, as highlighted by 9to5Mac.

Apple has also added a new bunch of emojis — 217 to be specific — courtesy of the updated Emoji 3.1 announced back in 2020.

Now, when Apple announced iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 beta 1, a new feature was added that allows users to unlock their iPhone with the Apple Watch. Quite a handy addition if you ask me, but being in beta, it was bound to be buggy.

And indeed, soon after, some Apple Watch users started reporting an error message saying “Unable to communicate with Apple Watch” when they try to enable the feature from the phone settings.

Unfortunately, there was little room to air their views given that Apple doesn’t like beta testers talking about their experience in the forums.

On the brighter side, it seems as though Apple was quietly taking note of the issue affecting the new unlock with Apple Watch feature in iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 beta 1.

With the recently released iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 beta 2, some Apple Watch users are now reporting that the issue seems to have been fixed. Not many reports are out there, so we really can’t be sure how true this is.

Two of the most annoying bugs from B1 have been squashed:

Update (February 25 )

As you can see from the underwhelming poll results above, it looks like iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 beta 2 updates fixed the “Unable to communicate with Apple Watch” (Unlock with Apple Watch) bug for some of you.

Several others are still experiencing the issue even after this update, at least going by the results. As for the rest (13.3%), this is a whole new feature they’ve never heard of before.
