The new 1.1.1 patch for Diablo 4 has brought along a bug that causes the ‘Word of Hakan’ to still show ‘Ultimate damage’ instead of the ‘Cooldown Reduction’ affix.

Among many changes in the patch, devs at Blizzard have also ‘updated’ certain existing item affixes. Including the stats and the ‘Cooldown Reduction’ affix of Rogue class ‘Unique Amulet’.

Here are a few examples of user reports floating about the internet:

I found a Word Of Hakan after the patch but it still has ultimate damage instead of the ‘updated’ cooldown reduction affix? What gives? Has anyone else had a similar experience? (Source)

I got a Word of Hakan on my first NM dungeon after 1.1.1. I was under the impression that the ultimate skill damage was changed to cooldown reduction. However, what I got has ultimate skill damage and cooldown reduction (instead of non-physical damage). Is this a bug or did I misread or misunderstand the changes? (Source)

‘Word of Hakan’ ultimate damage affix showing wrong stats

The latest 1.1.1 patch for Diablo 4 has introduced a plethora of quality-of-life and gameplay changes.

While the players have some grievances about other changes, most of the frustration seems to be spawned from the ‘Word of Hakan’ bug (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

‘Word of Hakan’ is a ‘Unique Amulet’ for the Rogue class. Which initially offered a boost to Non-Physical damage and Ultimate damage.

Post-patch, the Ultimate damage affix was supposed to be replaced with an updated Cooldown Reduction affix.

But the issue arose when, instead of Ultimate damage, the Non-Physical damage affix was replaced with a 6.6% Cooldown Reduction affix.

This resulted in the various reports about the bug flooding the internet such as the ones highlighted above. Players expected to see the stats change for the Word of Hakan Ultimate damage but it wasn’t.

However, that isn’t the end of it. Some players are also confused about the stats of the items being the same post-patch.

‘Word of Hakan’ stats still the same?

On the official Diablo 4 support forum, a user asked the developers about the issue and what was causing it.

Responding to the query, another user replied noting:

Yes, it will only reflect item drops from now on, the existing ones remain unchanged. (Source)

A similar observation was also found on Reddit, where a user said:

It’s not retroactive; the change only applies to newly found items. (Source)

So there’s nothing to worry about here. Players can go about their business as usual and expect to see the updated stats with new items.

That said we will monitor the situation and provide an update if there are any additional developments regarding the bugged stats for the Ultimate damage affix.
