Bungie recently announced that the prices for standalone season passes are going to be increased by 20%, i.e. from $10 to $12 per season.

It was also mentioned that the company will charge an additional 10% on season pass rank bundles as well, hiking the cost from $20 to $22.

However, the pricing structure remains unchanged for those who have already bought the full year of seasonal access until the next major expansion.

But it looks like the decision to increase the season pass prices has not been well received by some.

20% increase in Destiny 2 season pass cost

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), multiple Destiny 2 players are disappointed with Bungie’s recent decision to increase the season pass price.

They are of the view that the company is increasing the price without introducing any new value-for-money content or interesting storyline.

It has also been alleged that new updates for the game’s infrastructure and prompt responses to bug reports are not provided by the company.

Some believe the problem is not with the cost increase, but with the way silver coins are distributed. Apparently, one needs to buy two silver packages in order to purchase a DLC.

Along with this, users will have to buy additional bundles to be able to redeem the remaining coins. Understandably, players have taken to web forums to voice their concerns.

This is a downright malicous and evil manuover by bungie, a season pass will now cost a minimum of $15 usd and leave you with 400 silver spare which isnt even enough to buy anything from eververse.

However, another section of gamers agrees with the company’s decision of increasing the season pass price. They believe that the extra cost is worth it as gamers are also getting additional siver coins on the purchase.

Some even claim to have paid much higher prices for other games’ season passes.

Potential workaround

Fortunately, there is a way with which you can lower the cost of the season pass. If you purchase a silver bundle for $15 you get 1,700 coins out of which 1,200 can be used to buy the pass.

After the purchase, you are left with 500 coins which you can redeem on the next Season’s pass purchase. However, you will also need to buy an additional $10 silver bundle which will give you 1,100 coins.
