Original story (published on July 25, 2023) follows:

In the ever-evolving world of online gaming, Destiny 2 stands as a shining example of a massively popular multiplayer first-person shooter that has captivated players worldwide.

Developed by the esteemed studio, Bungie, the game’s immersive universe and thrilling gameplay have attracted a massive player base since its inception.

Central to Destiny 2’s allure is its emphasis on social interaction and cooperative play, creating a vibrant community of players seeking shared triumphs and memorable experiences.

Destiny 2 voice chat bugged or not working

However, like any other complex online game, Destiny 2 is not without its fair share of technical issues.

One problem that has been plaguing Destiny 2 players revolves around the in-game voice chat feature, which appears to be bugged or not working (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

Numerous players have taken to various platforms and forums to raise their concerns about the malfunctioning voice chat feature.

The issue seems to occur primarily when players engage in cross-play between different platforms, such as PC, PS4, and Xbox.

Reports suggest that the game is failing to detect the microphone, even when it is properly plugged in and the chat feature is turned on.

Consequently, players find themselves unable to hear or communicate with other players, creating a frustrating experience that dampens the game’s social and cooperative elements.

Honestly i could deal with not having mods for a little bit till it was fixed but i cant even use game chat for raids like its honestly getting out of hand for every 1 fix three things seemingly break when can i just play the damn game.

Surprisingly, the microphone worked flawlessly in Xbox and PS5 party chat, but it is unresponsive within Destiny 2, further confirming the existence of the problem within the game.

@BungieHelp Anyone wanna tell me why destiny 2 doesn’t pick up my mic in destiny but in ps5 party chat it works @Bungie

For those impacted by the voice chat problem, the lack of communication severely impacts their ability to participate in team-based activities, where real-time communication can make a significant difference in success.

The situation becomes even more frustrating for players who rely on cross-platform play to enjoy the game with friends who use different gaming systems.

In the meantime, players have found some temporary workarounds to mitigate the issue. Some have resorted to using third-party voice chat services like Discord to communicate with their team members.

While this provides a viable alternative, it is not an ideal solution. So, we hope the devs patch it soon.
