[Update: Fixed] Demon Slayer: Hinokami Tanjiros Ultimate freezing gameplay for multiple players, fix in the works

If you watch anime, chances are pretty high you have heard of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The story follows the journey of Hinokami Tanjiro, who faces demons so he can save his beloved sister Nezuko who has turned into a demon back to human.

Released on October 15 this year, it is developed by CyberConnect 2 and published by Aniplex in Japan with Sega owning the worldwide rights. The game features a campaign mode in addition to a versus mode where players can choose from a roster of 18 characters.

While the game has had smooth sailing since its launch, a handful of issues such as the bug where players couldn’t play online for a brief period of time did pop up.

Now, it looks like another glitch is affecting Demon Slayer players. Many say that the game is freezing for them whenever they use Hinokami Tanjiros ultimate.

This is a serious issue since those who use him in ranked games say they get disconnected and quite often banned. Many say that the game freezes during the animation cast, indicating that it is an issue on the developer’s end. You can see for yourself in the video below.

I haven’t quit a single game. All of my disconnects are from Hinokami tanjiros ultimate freezing the game, and now I’m banned for a day AND have 3 added disconnects?? Fix your game. I was ok with the dumb ones before, but now after 3 in a row and a 24 hour ban I’ve had enough

I’ve been playing Hinokami Tanjiro in ranked from day 1 of release and have racked up 11 disconnects and 2 bans. No I haven’t been closing the game in rage but all 11 dcs have been from the game freezing during HT ultimate LMAO. I’ve stopped playing ranked until they bring out the first patch

Fortunately, it looks like the developers are aware of the issue and said they are working on a fix. However, they did not share any ETA on when the fix will go live.

We hope the developers find out the root cause of the bug that causes Hinokami Tanjiros ultimate to freeze the game since it is affecting ranked gameplay.
