[Update: Nov. 18] DayZ down or not working on Xbox, issue being looked into

DayZ is a popular survival game developed and published by Bohemia Interactive. It is one of the few games that was in early access for nearly five years and was finally released in December 2018.

Taking place in the fictional Republic of Chernarus, players must survive a plague that has infected a huge chunk of the population.

Like all other survival games, players must gather and search for resources such as weapons, water, food while making their way through the infected ones.

As is the case with most online multiplayer games, players are susceptible to bugs and issues. And according to recent reports from DayZ players, many say that the game servers are down on Xbox.

If you check Downdetector.com, you can see that the number of reports of DayZ being down increased suddenly in the last few mins.

A quick look at the micro-blogging site Twitter conveys there are many others affected by the same issue. As per reports, while some say the service isn’t working or broken for them, others report getting a message stating “Warning(0x000400E1)”.

For a quick glance, here’s how some of the complainants word the problem:

@DayZ keep getting Warning (0x000400E1) on Xbox series x. All worked fine earlier, played my first game of Livonia this afternoon and now I’m getting this trying to log into any server. Anything I can try?

Thankfully, Xbox Support commented on the matter and said that they are aware that DayZ servers are down and working on the same. However, they did not share any ETA on when the servers will be back up.

If you check out the Xbox status page, it says that the outage started just over an hour ago and that they are still trying to resolve the issue.

Assessing the situation, those who want to play the game once again might have to wait for a couple of hours before the servers are up and running.

IST 11:01 am: The DayZ issue seems to have been addressed, at least according to Xbox Support.

08:50 am (IST): Many DayZ players have taken to social platforms such as Twitter to report that they aren’t able to play the game as they keep getting a ‘503 Service Unavailable’ error.

The official Xbox status page does indicate that there’s an outage with the game.

06:37 pm (IST): Xbox support has now confirmed that the recent issue with DayZ has been resolved.

05:59 pm (IST): Fresh reports on Twitter (1, 2) suggest that DayZ is currently down or not working for many.

Luckily, DayZ support has acknowledged the outage and confirmed that they are currently looking into it.
