[Update: Login issues] Dark and Darker Blacksmith launcher stuck or not loading? Try this potential workaround

After a turbulent month of fighting against legal woes and financial struggles, Ironmace Games has finally launched its very own launcher, Blacksmith.

Blacksmith is a necessary tool that needs to be downloaded alongside their games, such as the highly anticipated Dark and Darker, in order to play them.

Unfortunately, since the launch of Blacksmith, countless users have been flocking to the online forums to share that the program is facing many serious errors.

Blacksmith Launcher is stuck at 0%, meaning your servers are down. Isn’t this about the 6th time you’ve let people download this game. My oh my, you guys know how to screw up a launch. (Source)

I installed the Blacksmith installer which then installed the launcher, but when it wouldn’t launch after my purchase I wanted to try and uninstall/reinstall. (Source)

Due to the disappointing launch of Blacksmith, some players are even considering dropping the game for good.

Aside from the server issues, the launcher is also experiencing various bugs. Among them, the ‘Blacksmith already installed’ bug is the most infuriating, according to the masses.

A user on Reddit shared a potential solution to the bug. According to them, players can open up the registry editor by searching ‘regedit’.

Then go to ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER –> SOFTWARE –> IRONMACE’ and delete the ‘Blacksmith’ folder.

After that, re-downloading and installing the application will allegedly solve the ‘Blacksmith already downloaded’ bug.

There haven’t been any official statements from Ironmace regarding the issues so far.

We’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments on the matter.

12:01 pm (IST): Fortunately, Ironmace support has acknowledged the Dark and Darker issues with the Blacksmith launcher. However, there’s no ETA on a fix yet.

19:05 pm (IST): According to a recent report, the developers have fixed the bug where one couldn’t install the game and some compatibility issues with virtual machines as well.

In addition to this, the patch addressed the glitch where some user data on the installed path could be deleted.

04:16 pm (IST): Some players are again reporting (1, 2) launcher issues. According to reports, the game wasn’t loading for some players so they uninstalled the launcher. And now they can’t install it again.

05:36 pm (IST): IronMace is actively working on Blacksmith Launcher freezing issues during updating, launching or even downloading.

08:43 am (IST): In the last few hours, multiple Dark and Darker players have been unable to log in through the game launcher (1, 2).

However, there’as a potential workaround:

Go to ur blacksmith launcher file location and under blacksmith.exe there should be blacksmithbootstrap.exe. I used this instead of the original.exe and it opened just fine without a login
