I have and am experiencing a crash that happens whenever I try to launch CS2, the first time it launched it was fine, and I can launch other steam games fine as well. Further, I have tried uninstalling steam, uninstalling CS2 and updating both windows and my GeForce graphics drivers. (Source)

Valve has finally released the highly anticipated sequel to the beloved online competitive shooter, Counter-Strike. The large and dedicated fanbase eagerly dived into the game as soon as it became available.

Regrettably, many players reported severe crashing problems (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) with the game. According to these reports, crashes occur while playing online matches or launching the game.

Some players also noted that despite having sufficiently capable devices, the game still crashes frequently, suggesting that the issue might stem from optimization or other in-game problems, rather than the user’s device.

But that’s not all. Some players have pointed out that the game is virtually unplayable on devices using Linux (1, 2, 3).

The Linux version of the game is allegedly plagued by issues such as lag, invisible smokes, audio glitches, and stuttering.

Workarounds for crashing issues in Counter-Strike 2

As reports continue to accumulate, many players have proposed potential solutions to the crashing problems. One player suggested the following solution:

Open Powershell as an administrator and enter the following 2 commands there:

dir “$env:systemroot\system32\driverstore\filerepository\*NvCameraEnable.exe” -rec |% {& “$_” off}

dir “$env:programfiles\nvidia corporation\*NvCameraEnable.exe” -rec |% {& “$_” off} (Source)

While this may work for some, if you still encounter problems, consider the following steps:

– Check the integrity of the game cache.
– Ensure there are no viruses or other issues on your PC that could interfere with the game.
– Update your video driver.
– Verify that your OS is up to date.
– Attempt to run the game in compatibility mode with your version of Windows. (Source)

Following the steps mentioned above could potentially resolve the issue, although it is not guaranteed.

Valve has not issued any official statements regarding these issues. We will monitor the situation and provide updates if there are any further developments on the matter.
