Chromecast with Google TV has quickly become a must-have addition to any contemporary home entertainment setup. However, occasional bugs and issues often end up spoiling one’s experience negatively.

For instance, we recently highlighted the issues where Chromecast with Google TV users were unable to setup remote buttons and audio was not working or stopping after turning the TV off and on.

Now, a new problem is affecting multiple owners.

Chromecast with Google TV ‘No HDMI signal’ issue

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8), some Chromecast with Google TV owners are experiencing an issue related to HDMI signal connectivity.

Notably, they keep getting a ‘No HDMI Signal’ error every time they try to use it. This happens consistently across televisions from different brands, including Sony and Hisense.

And to get the device working, one has to unplug and replug the Chromecast device. The glitch popped up after a recent update and has afflicted multiple Chromecast devices for over a month.

Although users can connect their phones to the device as a remote, they cannot get any signal until they replug it. Interestingly, in some households, just one device is experiencing the issue while the others are unaffected.

And sadly, some are facing similar problems even with new units that they are receiving through RMA. As a result, users have taken to web forums to voice their discontent with the gadget.

Every time I start up my TV I get a weak HDMI error and I have to unplug my Chromecast with google tv to get a signal. This is happening on a Sony TV and a Hisense TV.

I’ve had this issue a few times, my chromecast is in hdmi 3 so I change the hdmi input to hdmi 2 using the tv remote then switch it back to hdmi 3 and that works for me.

Potential workaround

Meanwhile, you can try changing the remote’s power button setting to only turn on the Chromecast device for a potential fix.

Nevertheless, troubles of Chromecast with Google TV owners don’t end up here.

Netflix not responding to Google Home virtual remote

Multiple users (1,2,3,4,5,6) are complaining that the Netflix app does not respond to the Google Home phone remote control.

As per the allegations, the virtual remote in the phone app ceases to function once the Netflix app is launched.

Users have tried using the remote app on different Chromecast devices and phones that they own, but none of them work.

While other streaming apps work fine with the remote control, Netflix appears to be the only one that is affected. The glitch has been persistent for the past few months and remains unresolved until now.

As a workaround, users have tried restarting, updating, uninstalling, and reinstalling the app, but to no effect.

Although the problem was acknowledged officially in March, there has been no confirmation of a fix as of yet.
