Chrome browser receives regular software updates just like any other Google application and usually, things end up smoothly without any major hiccups or concerns for that matter.

In the latest update to Google Chrome 79, though, some users have noticed that Google has removed the “Enable New Print Preview UI Layout” option from #flags. This means the new print preview layout that doesn’t seem to bode well with some Chrome users cannot be disabled.

Chrome 79 rolled out on December 10 and has been spreading to more devices ever since. As more users get to enjoy the new features and tweaks included in the update, it also seems that features that were part of Chrome 78 are now missing in the latest version.

This is almost similar to what is happening with Chrome 80 beta, where it has reportedly ditched some features that are still present in the stable Chrome 79.

With Chrome 78, users could switch to the old print preview layout by disabling the “Enable New Print Preview UI Layout” flag.

After the update to Chrome 79, the above flag is missing, meaning you are stuck with the small print preview in the new UI layout. On the brighter side, the feature is likely to make a return via a near-future Chrome Canary update.

The latest print preview UI issue is just one of the many that Chrome 79 came with. Recently, the browser has had issues opening https websites on Macs, it breaks revamped profile/people menu, and is even freezing on Linux devices.

The same Chrome 79 also breaks hovering over variables in Chrome DevTools to show value and apparently, the ‘Aw Snap!’ crashes are still present despite being reportedly fixed. We will keep an eye on the developments and update this article when the print preview issue is resolved.
