Character.AI, a popular platform where users create and interact with virtual characters, has recently launched its mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

And users who have installed the app are now sharing their thoughts and opinions. While some users are pleased (1, 2, 3) with the app’s features and functionality, others have raised a few concerns.

Character.AI

No option to create custom rooms

One of the primary issues that users have encountered is the absence of rooms within the mobile app. In the web version of Character.AI, users can access different rooms where they can engage with virtual characters and other users.

However, this feature seems to be missing from the mobile app. Users have expressed their disappointment with it, as they are unable to enjoy the full range of experiences offered by the platform on their mobile devices.

Download the app this morning and went to check the rooms I made but there’s nothing there. They’re in the browser version though. Is it missing on the app or am I just dumb? (Source)

We hope that Character.AI will consider adding rooms to the app in future updates to enhance the overall user experience.

Chat bubbles

Another aspect that has drawn criticism is the design of the chat bubbles. Users have found them unappealing and not visually pleasing.

The chat bubble format, which is used for conversations with virtual characters, has failed to impress some users, who believe that it could be improved to offer a more engaging format.

NSFW filter

Additionally, the app includes an NSFW (Not Safe for Work) filter. While this feature may be useful in certain scenarios, some users have raised their concerns and are requesting its removal.

Why dont yall just write reviews under their app about removing the character ai filter until they do…‼️‼️ (Source)

everyone’s asking for the nsfw filter to get removed uh actually can we please get chr ai app on fucking android (Source)

These users say that the presence of the NSFW filter limits the freedom of expression and hinders their ability to engage in natural and unrestricted conversations with virtual characters.

Furthermore, some users also have also noticed different behavior of Vaporeon on the web and mobile app.

In conclusion, users are expressing mixed opinions about whether the mobile app or the website provides a better user experience.

While some users find the app convenient and appreciate the ability to access Character.AI on the go, others believe that the website offers a more comprehensive and immersive experience.

Rest assured, we will keep this article updated as and when we come across anything noteworthy.
