Battlefield 2042 arrived in October of last year (2021) as the latest installment in the Electronic Arts FPS action game series.

The game is available on multiple consoles, both current and previous generation, as well as Windows OS devices.

One of the graphical options available on Battlefield 2042 is HDR support. This technology helps improve image quality by offering a better dynamic range.

However, Battlefield 2042 players on PS5 are currently facing an issue where the HDR option is not working or grayed out in the settings menu after the latest 4.0 update (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10).

HDR issue on PS5

Hi, anyone else experience going to the menu only to find ‘HDR: off’ in the video Settings and not being able to turn it on as it is grayed out? I’m on a PS5, using the PS5 hdmi and I have an LG C1 tv.

Apparently, the latest Battlefield 2042 4.0 update brought the problem.

Trust that to be the case, tbh update 4.0 add more bugs than they fixed lool

PS4 players could be facing the glitch too

The vast majority of reports on the issue come from PS5 users. However, there are also some PS4 players experiencing the same situation.

HDR issue

I have a brand new top spec 4k tv with HDR capability, my PS4 has HDR enabled and it works with other games.

When i go to the BF2042 settings, the HDR options are greyed out and i can’t select anything HDR related.

Any ideas?

Electronic Arts already investigating, potential workaround

An Electronic Arts Community Manager confirmed that the glitch in question has already been escalated to the development team for investigation. But, there are no details on an ETA for a fix yet.

Also, a member of the EA Dice team shed more light on the matter and further confirmed that a fix will come in a future update:

I checked up on this for you. The HDR options actually shouldn’t be visible in-game on console. It’s enabled automatically if supported, so we have a fix incoming in a future update that removes this option from the menu.

What we’ll add in stead is a calibration screen for HDR.
