The most acclaimed RPG of 2023, Baldur’s Gate 3, has recently received its latest patch, which includes more than 1000 changes and improvements. However, players are reporting that alongside fixing numerous issues, the patch has introduced new problems, such as granny facial textures and malfunctioning character creation sliders.
Baldur’s Gate 3 facial hair texture issue after patch 4
Baldur’s Gate 3 features a comprehensive character creation system that allows players to create custom characters with high detail and freedom. From face shape to eye color and even various choices of facial hair, the character creation in Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a lot of options.
Unfortunately, according to reports, players are experiencing unpleasant textures on facial hair following the patch. Beards, mustaches, and other facial hair options are reportedly appearing grainy with strange patches throughout.

While there is no official explanation for the issue, many believe it is related to unsupported mods after Patch 4. It is said that the new patch has altered many internal codes of the game, causing the mods to malfunction.
However, many players who do not have any mods installed are still facing these issues. Therefore, it is currently unclear what is causing this problem. Despite the increasing number of reports, the developers have not yet issued an official statement regarding this issue.
Fortunately, the community has shared some workarounds that may help resolve the problem. According to one workaround, players can try forcing anisotropic filtering to “x16”, enabling Negative LOD Bias to “Allow”, and setting Texture filtering quality to “Quality” in the Nvidia control panel or any other graphics card control software.
Character slider issue
In addition to the facial hair problem, there are also reported issues with the character creation menu. According to reports, sliders for facial freckles, scar intensity, and other features are not functioning properly after patch 4.
This issue is quite obscure and has proven difficult to solve, even within the community.
However, one player suggests that uninstalling or updating mods such as modfixer, improvedUI, and improvedUI assets (if installed) may provide some relief.
As of now, there has been no official statement regarding this issue from the developers.
