So far, there hasn’t been any official statement on this issue. However, affected players can use the following methods to find relief:

  • Uninstalling the game and reinstalling the game.
  • Clearing insufficient storage space for the patch, as it requires around 130GB of free disk space.
  • Ensuring that your PC meets the game’s system requirements.
  • Switching between Vulkan, DirectX 11, and DirectX 12 APIs.
  • Disabling in-game overlay.
  • Updating graphics drivers and. Net Framework.
  • Playing with lower settings and avoiding interacting with certain in-game items.

Highlights of the new patch

Patch 5 of Baldur’s Gate 3 introduced several new features and changes, including:

  • New Playable Epilogue: A playable epilogue called “Journey’s End” that takes place 6 months after the game, set at a camp in High Hall, overlooking the city of Baldur’s Gate. This epilogue allows players to see the culmination of all their choices throughout the game.
  • New Game Modes: The addition of two new game modes, Honour Mode and Custom Mode. Honour Mode is a challenging mode with only one save file, while Custom Mode allows players to tweak settings to their preference.
  • Improved Inventory Management: The patch improved the inventory management system, allowing players to access and manage inventories of companions even if they’re not in the current party composition. This includes the ability to change Orin’s armor to a new outfit.
  • Performance Enhancements: Performance improvements were made to RAM/VRAM use, directly related to work undertaken to get the game working on Xbox Series S.
  • Boss Changes: The patch made adjustments to boss behavior, including the inclusion of the Legendary Action system from tabletop Dungeons & Dragons in Honour Mode.
  • Other Fixes and Additions: The patch also included various fixes, such as addressing issues with Astarion’s kisses, thefts, and other gameplay problems.
