Baldur's Gate 3 demand for ability to change and save character appearance after creation grows, but still no official word

Fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 are demanding a feature where they can change a character’s appearance mid-game.

Currently, players can only change their character’s appearance during the character creation menu at the beginning of each save file.

I created a Tiefling to start a coop game with my friends and I kinda rushed its appearance cause they wanted to start the game already. Ended up being beige skin which doesn’t really make sense or fit with the lore. I’m sure there are more people in my or a similar situation that want to change character appearance after testing it out. (Source)

This seems like a huge oversight by Larian and very strange since they put so much detail into every aspect of this game. Why would they leave out the ability to modify your character’s appearance? And no, the shapeshifter mask does not allow for it. (Source)

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of the hottest topics in the gaming community ever since its release.

From its incredible attention to detail to its in-depth “adult” interactions, BG 3 has been dubbed the “true definition of RPG” by some fans.

That is why players are dumbfounded when they realized (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) that the developers forgot to add mid-game character customization.

This is despite the fact that the developers spent so much time honing in on every aspect of the game.

Unfortunately, in the current state of the game, changing the player character’s appearance mid-game is impossible.

However, players have the option to temporarily modify their character’s appearance by utilizing the Mask of the Shapeshifter item.

Acquiring this item is only possible through the purchase of the Digital Deluxe Edition of Baldur’s Gate 3.

When used, the item enables a temporary alteration of the character’s race and appearance, along with bestowing the stat enhancements associated with the chosen race.

As of now, Larian Studios has not provided any statements regarding this matter. We will continue to monitor this issue and provide updates whenever significant developments arise.
