Warner Bros. Discovery has recently announced the migration of HBO Max to Max, which will include all of the content from HBO Max and the best of real-life shows from Discovery as well.

The company claims that the new service will cater to the needs of everyone in the family. But this news has gotten some AT&T, Verizon, Xfinity, Cox, Cricket, DirecTV, Dish, Hulu, Optimum, Prime Video, and Spectrum users worried.

Will HBO Max subscribers get Max for free as part of AT&T, Verizon, Xfinity, DirecTV, Dish, Hulu & Spectrum plans?

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple HBO Max subscribers are eager to know whether their complimentary access will remain or not after the service’s transition to Max.

Some are worried that after the rebranding, free access to HBO Max may be taken away. Currently, it is bundled with some of their plans. However, after the recent announcement, there is scarce information regarding the same.

Also, Max has different plans and pricing as compared to HBO Max which has added to such speculations.

Recently, the HBO Max team started sending out emails assuring subscribers that they will get access to the new service by May 23. But since there is no confirmation from distribution partners, customers are concerned.

Well, HBO has already mutated into HBO Max, which I figure they could’ve taken the way already if they wanted to. But now it’s going to evolve into something else, so it’s easier for them to get rid of it if they want to.

Free HBO means the live channels. HBO Max is included with HBO subs. If the new app is free with an HBO subscription, then I expect to continue to get it free.

According to the official website, AT&T, Amazon’s Prime Video Channels, Altice USA’s Optimum, Cox, Charter’s Spectrum, Cricket, DirecTV, Dish, Hulu, Verizon, and Comcast’s Xfinity are all lined up to offer the new service.

So, it is possible that those who got free HBO Max through AT&T, Verizon, and other carrier plans will continue to get Max for free as well, although it’s unclear which package of Max they’ll be transferred to.

We’ll keep tabs on this topic and update this report as new information becomes available.

02:13 pm (IST): Certain Xfinity plans include MAX (formerly known as HBO Max) subscription, but some Xfinity users (1, 2) have been experiencing an outage with Max for the past few days.
