Incoming is another Android Pie update alert!

Just recently, Razer’s marketing team confirmed the OEM’s plan to release Android Pie for their first gaming smartphone – the original 2017 Razer Phone. For refresher, it’s a high-end phone, fueled by Snapdragon 835 chipset. Originally shipped with Android Nougat, it was bumped to Oreo last year.

Here’s what Razer Marketing team said while sharing the news on online discussion platform Reddit:

We will release an Android Pie upgrade – which includes Android security updates – for the original Razer Phone in coming weeks. We thank all our fans for their support and patience.

But no such information came regarding Razer Phone’s successor, the Razer Phone 2. As you may know it’s the company’s 2018 flagship phone which is powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. The device comes with Android Oreo out of the box, and currently awaits Android 9.0 Pie’s advent.

But that changes now, as the US carrier AT&T has begun pushing Android Pie to Razer Phone 2 variants on their network. The update weighing ~1.4GB brings along the July security patch and a lot of new faetures. The information comes credits to a couple of Redditors.

As for key highlights, here’s what Android Pie on AT&T variants on Razer Phone 2 brings:

-Adaptive Battery
-Gesture Navigation
-Notification Management
-Digital Wellbeing support
-Camera now supports 720p/1080p/4K at 60FPS video recording
-Bug fixes and performance improvements
-Security updates through July, 2019

Here’s a user shared image of the update installation screen:

Well, the wait is finally over at least for Razer Phone 2 users on AT&T network. FYI a quick look at AT&T’s software update page for Razer Phone 2 doesn’t reflect any such change. It continues to display Android Oreo (April security patch) as the last update. Looks like the page is yet to be updated.

Anyway, as is usually the case with updates, they roll out in batches, so the Pie update may take time to make it to all AT&T Razer Phone 2 devices. So hang in tight, as those of you with own a Razer Phone 2 on AT&T may get the update notification anytime now.

BTW, the Amazon Prime day sale price of $399 is back up for Razer Phone 2 devices. If interested, you can head to Amazon and get yourself this high-end gaming device for half its original price (i.e. $799) ?. Happy buying!
