Original story (published on September 02, 2020) follows:

Asus announced the ZenFone 7 series back in August and both devices from the series are now up for grabs. Both devices feature the Snapdragon 865 series chipsets but the Pro offers slightly higher performance with the Snapdragon 865+ SoC.

Also, the smartphones offer Android 10 out-of-the-box and with such specs the duo qualifies for Asus’ flagship for 2020. To make them even better, Asus has already provided both devices with the first update which offers many improvements.

While Asus’s ZenUI 7 offers a lot of interesting and handy features, modders and developers are always looking for something extra. Since Asus offers Android devices, modders and developers will not have any issues getting what they want with the software.

Third-party ROMs offer many customization options and features which is why OEMs like Asus release the kernel source code for their devices. The ZenFone 7 series is no exception and the OEM has already relesead the kernel sources for both devices.

Now, users can look forward to custom ROMs for both devices. It must also be noted that the ROG Phone 3 and ZenFone 7 kernel source code is unified as mentioned by LineageOS director, Luca Stefani.

You can grab the kernel source code for both devices from the link given below:

  • Device: Asus ZenFone 7 and Asus ZenFone 7 Pro
  • Version: V29.10.22.41
    • Type: Kernel Source Code

Apart from that, Asus has also released the bootloader unlock tool for the newly launched series. So, once custom ROMs are available for these devices, users will not have any hassle. The bootloader unlock tool APKs for both devices can be downloaded from the links given below:
