Original story (from July 11) follows:

Samsung is the leading smartphone vendor in the world. The company also boasts a significant market share as far as the smart TV world is concerned.

What makes Samsung a top name in both worlds is the quality of hardware the company puts out there. This, however, often leads to premium price tags. The Galaxy Z Flip, for instance, costs about $1,500.

And no, this isn’t even the most expensive Samsung smartphone today. At such a price, though, you expect nothing but the best, but going by the latest user experiences, it seems Samsung has other cunning ideas.

Apparently, multiple users say various Samsung Galaxy smartphones are displaying ads in stock apps such as Samsung Music, Samsung Health, Samsung Weather, Samsung Phone, Samsung Pay, Bixby, and even the Galaxy Store. But Samsung has dismissed these claims.

Samsung-pop-up-ads

This shouldn’t be happening on a device that costs thousands of dollars to buy, but it is happening nonetheless! If you are going to serve us ads, at least make the product free ala Google, but as noted, Samsung phones cost a small fortune these days.

And no, it’s not just smartphones that are affected. Several owners of Samsung smart TVs have also aired their distress upon coming across ads on gadgets that cost them thousands of dollars to acquire. Sure, there is a workaround for this, but why need one in the first place?

In fact, why is Samsung even showing ads in stock apps yet we paid for the hardware that enables us to access the apps in question and the services they have to offer? To dig further, we asked you whether your Samsung device has served you with ads after recent updates via a Twitter poll as seen below.

In a bid to get to as many affected device owners as possible, we will be running the Twitter poll above for one week, so be sure to get on it and cast your vote. We will be back here next week to deliver the poll results.

It’s also worth noting that a petition is ongoing at Change.org aimed at forcing Samsung to get rid of ads in stock apps. You can check out the details here.

Update 1 (July 11)

We’ve got mixed results this time. Out of the 38 individuals who voted, about 47.4% don’t have much idea about the ads, followed by 42.1% who get to see the ads, while the left out 10.5% say they don’t see any ads.

Update 2 (August 17)

It’s possible that we may see ads in stock for Samsung apps go away, finally. To know more, head here.
