Apple recently released watchOS 10 update for Apple Watch users with a range of new features and improvements, however, some users have been left frustrated after they noticed that the update has removed the favorites dock.

In previous watchOS versions, the favorites dock was a convenient way to access frequently-used apps. It provided easy access to essential applications right from the watch face.

However, with the release of watchOS 10, this beloved feature has been removed and users are unhappy with this change.

I have used the app switcher/dock on my watch to switch between 3 or 4 apps I like to use. Now on WatchOS 10, I can’t do that. Am I missing something or is it broken? (Source)

@Apple Why would you remove the dock from WatchOS 10?! It was the most used navigation feature on my watch. 🙁 Can I go back to WatchOS 9? (Source)

Now, to access the dock, users must double-click the digital crown. While this still provides a pathway to the dock, it comes with some significant changes.

The scrolling direction in the dock is reversed which makes it feel unfamiliar for long-time users. Additionally, there are no longer headers for each app, which can make it harder to quickly identify and select the desired app.

One of the most significant changes is that the dock now displays recent apps instead of favorites. This shift can be frustrating for users who relied on the favorites dock for quick access to specific applications.

Here’s a potential workaround

While you won’t see your favorites apps in the dock after the update, there’s a potential workaround that will help you organize the applications that you frequently use on top.

You just need to rearrange the app icons and put your favorites at the top. That way, you’ll be able to access them with ease.

To do that, open the grid view on your watch and long press. Now, you can arrange the icons according to your preference. This is currently the closest way for users to easily access their frequently used apps.
