The Apple TV microconsonles and digital media players are used by many but those with Apple TV subscriptions can also avail similar services on other platforms like Roku via the Apple TV app.

It is a pretty handy tool when it comes streaming content from iTunes Store, Apple TV+, and video on demand service. While many people use the Apple TV app on their Roku devices, an issue has been preventing them from doing so lately.

According to multiple reports from the Apple support community, the Apple TV app is not working properly across multiple Roku devices. Affected users have pointed out that they are unable to watch most of the content on the Apple TV app.

Also, the Apple TV app for Roku gives the ‘Video Not Available‘ error for shows like Ted Lasso, The morning show, SEE, and many more. The issue is clearly widespread but there have been no comments from Apple or Roku on the matter so far.

Even generic troubleshooting steps like, restarting the device, reinstalling the Apple TV app, checking for software updates, and more are not helping affected Roku users. All this is further adding to users’ dilemma.

I’ve seen this question in other threads. Just set up my Roku Streaming Stick plus and it works with all other apps. But when I try to stream Apple content I get the same message “Video not available There is a problem loading this video” I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the Apple TV app. No change. Tried restarting router. No Change. I saw a response about needing to contact the ISP. But that doesn’t make sense, all other apps are working fine. One other strange thing, I can see the “Preview New Apple Originals” just fine.

Everyone app on Roku works except apple. Not an internet issue. Click on a show and it says “Video not available. There’s a problem loading this video. Check your internet connection.”. I have disabled and re-installed app, but get same messages

It is unclear what the exact cause of the problem is but it might be with the Apple TV app itself. This is because user reports clearly outline that other apps like HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+ and more work fine whereas only the Apple TV app is not working properly.

Moreover, the issue where the Apple TV app is not working on Roku appears to be around for quite some time now as reports regarding the same have been doing the rounds since at least March 2021.

It is possible that Apple and Roku might be working on a solution to fix this problem but that does not explain why both vendors have not provided any details on the matter after all this time.

I have a Roku streaming device and it has stopped streaming apple TV+ shows. It’s been working for weeks but now the message comes up “video not available” check your internet.

My WiFi and internet are fine, but this app isn’t working correct. I’ve rebooted the router and the streaming device and reinstalled the app, but I still can’t get it to work.

Any help out there?

However, affected Roku users can try a simple workaround to bypass the ‘Video Not Available’ error while using the Apple TV app. This workaround appears to be helping several users so it is definitely worth a shot.

The workaround involves changing the HDMI audio settings from auto detect to Dolby Digital by heading over to the Audio section under the Settings menu then selecting HDMI.

So, if you are also facing the aforementioned issue with the Apple TV app on your Roku device, be sure to give this workaround a go and let us know whether it worked for you by dropping a comment below.
