New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on March 01, 2022) follows:

The Apple Pencil is Apple’s own developed stylus for its compatible products (such as some iPad Pro models).

The connection between an iPad and the Apple Pencil is done through Bluetooth. However, some users have been facing connectivity issues that prevent them from using the accessory.

More specifically, some Apple Pencil users are unable to connect it to their compatible devices. In other cases, the Apple Pencil doesn’t work even if you manage to connect it (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

Apple Pencil not connecting via Bluetooth

Some users are having trouble trying to connect the Apple Pencil to an iPad. According to reports, they are unable to complete the process even after following each step (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

This issue also prevents them from seeing the remaining battery percentage on the Apple Pencil.

Apple Pencil is not showing battery percentage and it does not connect to Bluetooth. I forgot device and now it does not detected any more.

I place my Apple Pencil to my iPad Air 2020 and it detects that is an Apple Pencil, however it does not show how much battery percentage it has and it also just keeps trying to connect but fails to.

Reports indicate that the iPad does detect the Apple Pencil when it is nearby. However, the process fails when you try to make the connection.

Apple Pencil not working after connecting

In some cases, users are able to complete the process of connecting Apple Pencil to iPad. But, the gadget will not work, as if it was not connected.

Apple Pencil 2 does not work

I have brought an Apple Pencil 2 for my new iPad Pro & I have followed the instructions on the brochure, but unfortunately it didn’t work, it shows that the pencil is is paired &charging but when I try to use it, it doesn’t work at all. I have checked the Bluetooth connection and the tip of the pencil looks good also.

In this case you can connect the Apple Pencil to another device and see the remaining battery percentage. However, you won’t be able to draw, write, or use any of the stylus features.

The potential causes of the issue: dead battery or iOS 15

Some users suggest that the issue could be due to a ‘dead battery’ on the Apple Pencil. If the device is still under warranty, Apple will reportedly send a replacement.

If you plug it into the iPad, does it show fully charged then a low number? (like 3). It could be your battery is dead, that’s what happened to mine. Apple store told me they wouldn’t replace it even though I had never used it (it was beyond the warranty time). I contacted Apple (via 1 800 number) and talked to an advisor…. they sent me a replacement.

According to reports, the issue starts suddenly and for no apparent reason.
