Apple Music is usually the favorite music streaming service for users of iOS devices, although it is also available for Android OS.

Like other big names in the segment (such as Spotify), Apple Music has a dedicated desktop client. The client is compatible with both macOS and Windows OS.

However, some users of the macOS 12 client have been facing an annoying issue for some time now. There is a bug that negatively impacts the ‘Listen Now’ section of the service.

More specifically, the message ‘Error: We’ve run into a problem’ may appear in the middle of music playback (and in other scenarios).

Apple Music (macOS 12) Listen Now Error: We’ve run into a problem’

The issue in question usually appears when you access the Listen Now section in Apple Music for macOS 12. On Listen Now, users can discover recommended new music based on their personal tastes.

However, for a few weeks now some Apple Music for macOS 12 users only receive an ‘Error: We’ve run into a problem’ in the middle of playback or when trying to access Listen Now (1, 2).

I also have this same error with Music on macOS 12.2. The Music app says it’s version: 1.2.2.40

The Listen Now section just displays:

app.js[2031:72] Error: We’ve run into a problem.

There is a retry button, but pressing it changes nothing. I have quit the app and relaunched it, and it still shows the error. And I have rebooted my MacBook Pro and it still shows the error. It still shows the error in Safe Mode also.

Since updating to macOS 12.2 I am unable to use the Listen Now section in Music on macOS. The same does not happen on iOS, the Listen Now tab works fine using the same Apple ID.

The issue can also arise in other use cases. For instance, some reports indicate that the ‘Error: We’ve run into a problem’ message appears when selecting the user’s profile icon.

Error message on Apple Music

Whenever I try to click the icon with the person to see my account information I get an error message that says “app.js[2031:72] Error: We’ve run into a problem.” There’s a retry button but nothing happens when I click it. I have to restart the app whenever this happens. The error message also pops up sometimes when I click on different playlists. I’ve tried restarting my laptop with safe mode and reinstalling the app but nothing has fixed it. This started when I upgraded to Monterey.

Even some iOS device users have had problems playing music from the Apple Music app:

The error could be related to malware in some cases

In some cases, the ‘Error: We’ve run into a problem’ that appears in Apple Music for macOS 12 could be related to malware, according to reports.

In those specific cases, using a malware removal tool reportedly helped resolve the glitch. So, you could try that if you are facing the same issue.

I received apple support today and they identified malware. It was necessary to download a malware remover program then scan the system to identify the problem. It has now been corrected. Thank you APPLE!!!
