Apple AirPlay not working or connecting for some Roku users after OS 12 update

In March, Roku released the Roku OS 12 update that introduced improvements across entertainment discovery, live TV, sports, the mobile app, and much more.

However, it appears that this update also introduced some bugs and issues while at it.

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9), multiple Roku owners are experiencing an issue where Apple AirPlay is not working or connecting properly.

Apparently, even though a ‘device is connected’ notification appears on their TV screen after selecting the Screen Mirroring option, the stream doesn’t appear.

And surprisingly, this is also happening when one gets the ‘this video is playing on Roku TV’ message on their iPhone or iPad.

Notably, some are facing difficulties in properly connecting Roku with their phones. While others assert that their Roku streaming device doesn’t even appear in the ‘Devices’ list.

In addition to this, HomeKit users are also unable to discover their Roku device. The issue popped up after installing the latest Roku OS 12 update and remains unresolved until now.

One of those affected says that they get ‘A Roku device was not found at this IP address’ error message whenever they are trying to manually connect the device.

Some are speculating that this is likely happening due to issues with multicast traffic on their network.

Unfortunately, connecting the phone and streaming device to the same network, restarting the devices, and tinkering with settings could not help users get rid of the problem.

But we are hopeful that Roku will address this problem shortly.
