The Nintendo Switch may be nowhere close to the latest consoles or gaming PCs out there in terms of hardware capabilities but performs incredibly well for a handheld device.

Yet, even with such prowess, there are examples of game ports that are passable at best, which is quite understandable considering that the games weren’t designed keeping the Switch in mind in the first place.

After all, these rudimentary ports are the only way to play certain games for many. Hence, the downgrade in gaming quality is worth it as opposed to not getting to play them at all.

Apex Legends fits this category perfectly. However, along with the notable downgrades in visuals, which isn’t really an issue to begin with, many users are now facing a new actual problem.

The game was released for the Nintendo Switch in early March and there has been a slew of complaints ever since stating that the in-game voice chat isn’t working expectedly.

The in-game chat is very choppy and not on in the lobby. My friend from PC was not able to talk to me as usual and that has highly detracted from gameplay. If there’s any way you can fix the voice chat, please do.

I can confirm the same. Switch chat audio is completely garbled in the lobby and in-game and completely unintelligible. It appears to only be an issue when Switch users are talking to other consoles or PC. Switch to Switch works fine…but everything else is toast. I can’t wait for a fix so my son can get off my back lol.

As clear from the above reports, the voice chat keeps stuttering or cutting off, making communication almost incomprehensible. The voice may even sound extremely delayed and laggy.

The issue occurs in both a match as well as in the lobby and almost everyone facing this has specified that the problem occurs 100% of the time.

A few users observed that the Apex Legends voice chat issue only occurs when they’re playing on the cross-platform mode and isn’t reproducible when playing with other Nintendo Switch players.

Nonetheless, the Apex Legends team has reported that it’s aware of the bug and that a future patch is to be released with a bug-fix for the issue.

However, this acknowledgment was made over a month ago and there haven’t been any further updates ever since. Complaints have continued pouring in indicating that there hasn’t been any improvement in the matter.

If the Apex Legends team is indeed working on a fix for the Apex Legends voice chat issue on Nintendo Switch as indicated by the Community Manager, then they definitely need to speed things up.
