Apex Legends developers – Respawn Entertainment got in a messy situation with the community over the Iron Crown event store items. The game works on a free to play model and covers the running costs using micro-transactions. Game developers went over the board with pricing in the event which caused a backlash from the community.

The Reddit threads got quite messy when the reply which the community got from the developers was not just bad but worse. Both parties exchanged heated words and in the end the developers apologized for their mistake and assured the players that the prices will be reduced in future.

The Voidwalker event saw the first step of the developers correcting their mistake. Each item was available to buy separately. This was implemented for the legendary items as well. The price was still kept a bit high but the players were happy to see that the developers considered their feedback and acted on it.

And now, after the Voidwalker event has ended, the store item prices have been cut by half. This is the second step of the developers correcting their mistake and this was a welcome change for the players as well. The sale won’t go on and the price cuts are also limited time as well.

The pricing with the free to play games have always been an issue as the developers also need to earn from the game to keep it going. The micro-transaction business model is also a bit tricky as to maintain a decent player base with earning enough money to keep everything going as per the plans tends to get messy sometimes.

Developers should have thought about the impossible prices for the store items but the players should also understand the perspective of the developers. What do you think about the price cut of the store items? Do let us know in the comment section below!
