Original story (published on January 11, 2023) follows:

Apex Legends, a popular battle royale game, recently released a patch that has caused backlash from players due to a silent nerf to the character Horizon.

The change affects Horizon’s Q skill, Gravity Lift, which shoots rising bullets or bullet diffusion.

Apex Legends Horizon nerf

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7), the game got a new patch a few hours ago, and players came across a silent nerf to Horizon, which is opposite to their liking.

Why did you nerf Horizon? Horizon’s Q skill causes bullets to spread now. If you don’t know how to nerf Horizon correctly, Plz ask the player instead of making random changes.

The accuracy and damage of the skill have been significantly reduced, leading players to feel that the character’s usefulness has been greatly diminished.

This has caused frustration among players who were already accustomed to the character’s previous capabilities and had strategies built around them.

The fact that the nerf was not included in the patch’s changelog has added to players’ disappointment. Players were not made aware of the change until they logged into the game and noticed the difference themselves.

This has raised concerns among players about the transparency and communication of the game’s developers, Respawn Entertainment. Players have taken to social media and online forums to voice their frustrations.

Some have even gone as far as to say that the change has not only weakened the character and rendered her unplayable but is also unfair as it had no mention in the changelog.

The affected section feels that the nerf was too severe and that Respawn should have communicated the change more clearly.

This nerf to Horizon has sparked a heated debate among the Apex Legends community. Some argue that the change is necessary to balance the game and prevent a single character from dominating the meta.

Its good that horizon got nerfed but goes to show that controller one clipping is extremely broken. Respawn refuses to nerf AA so therefore they nerf characters that abuse it

In conclusion, the silent nerf to Horizon has caused backlash from players who feel that the change has significantly impacted the character’s usefulness.

The lack of transparency and communication from Respawn has added to players’ frustration, and the Apex Legends community is divided on whether the nerf was necessary for the game’s balance.

It is always important for game developers to communicate the changes clearly and consider how it may affect players’ experience.

We hope that Respawn looks into these reports and comes up with a solution that better serves the majority of players.

Until then, keep tabs on this story as we will update it with further developments if any.

Update 1 (January 12, 2023)

01:00 pm (IST): It seems that developers didn’t stop at Horizon’s Q ability – Gravity Lift as her Ultimate ability appears to have been discreetly nerfed as well.

So it turns out horizon’s q wasn’t the only thing that got shadow nerfed. Ult no longer appears to suck through walls (at least in the range)

Update 2 (January 13, 2023)

06:31 pm (IST): Although devs have nerfed Horizon’s Q, some players still say (1, 2) that her footsteps are pretty much silent.

Update 3 (January 16, 2023)

02:29 pm (IST): Respawn support has confirmed that they have fixed the issue where Horizon was unintentionally nerfed in the 15.1 update.

A quick note to our @PlayApex dearies before you launch into the weekend🚀: Accuracy while shooting from Horizon’s Gravity Lift was inadvertently affected with the 15.1 update. We’ve just rolled out a fix to correct this. (Source)
