Developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by EA, Apex Legends is one of the most popular battle royale video games available right now. With more than 13 million active weekly players, Apex Legends recently set a new record for daily peak players in Season 9.

But Apex is susceptible to bugs with some recent issues causing the game to crash and others reporting matchmaking issues.

Now, Apex Legends players are reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) another issue with the game where they cannot ping death boxes and black market when playing the game using controllers.

If you don’t know, Apex allows players to ping deathboxes so players can easily pick up weapons and other loot from players who have died while the black market allows them to buy certain weapons.

It is really inconvenient for those playing using controllers or on consoles since pinging is an essential part of the game. Many said they thought they had broken RB buttons but later realized that it was a bug in the game.

Since the update today, every time I try to ping an item in a deathbox, it doesn’t work. I know it’s not my R1 button because pinging things on the ground/in supply bins works just fine, it’s just in death boxes that it doesn’t work. Anyone else having this issue?

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem or just me. I can’t ping items in deathboxes and whenever I pick up or switch to a weapon from running without one it keeps trying to “charge” for the sentinel and “rev up” on the rampage without my input. Im on ps4 and my keybind for that action is the default left on the d pad which is also set to do the same actions they do for other weapons(ie switch to single fire on r301) just wondering if it’s a bug causing these issues or is it my controller.

Some said they tried verifying game files and restarting the game but these solutions do not seem to make any difference.

Thankfully, it seems that EA Help is aware of the issue and said that they are working on a fix. They also said that the Apex Legends issue where players cannot ping will be resolved with a patch coming on December 15 this year.

As always, we will keep an eye out on the issue and update this space when Respawn Entertainment fixes the bug.

Update 1 (January 06, 2022)

06:24 (IST): Respawn has recently seeded an update that temporarily disables the Rampage and Sentinel weapons in all modes due to a glitch.

Moreover, the MIL-SPEC Bangalore skin is also being disabled. However, players can still purchase from the store and will be available once they re-enable it.

We’ve just pushed out a @Playapex update temporarily disabling the Rampage and Sentinel weapons in all modes due to an exploit. The update also disables the MIL-SPEC Bangalore skin. It is, however, still purchasable from the store and will be present once fixed and re-enabled.

Update 2 (January 20, 2022)

11:40 am (IST): Respawn has announced that the players who were affected by Bangalore MIL-SPEC skin will be getting 1 Bangalore thematic pack who purchased the pack from Jan. 04 to Jan. 13.
