Multiple Android device owners are experiencing an issue where Android Auto is not working properly after installing the recent update.

In addition to this, some people have observed that the app icon has disappeared from their home screen, making it difficult for them to access the client.

Android Auto not working or app icon disappeared

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), some users have been facing difficulties connecting their smartphones with the car’s Android Auto.

They claim that the Android Auto app icon does not light up in their vehicles after connecting their phones with the USB cable.

Along with this, they are unable to instantly access maps, music playback, and much more after the connection. To make things work, users have time and again tried unplugging and replugging different cables, but to no avail.

It’s noteworthy that the issue mostly affects Samsung Galaxy smartphones. However, there are also reports from users with devices from other manufacturers.

People have also reported that the car and the app connect normally on some of their phones but not on others.

This has made a few uncertain whether this is an Android Auto-related problem or specific to some vehicles.

I have the same exact problem i have a52s and suzuki s-cross 2023. the car trying to connect with the phone several times very quickly then it just gives up. I tried everything too and switched cables and still dont work

One of those affected says that Android Auto worked seamlessly on their Ford vehicle initially. However, the situation changed soon, and they could no longer access certain functions.

They allegedly get an ‘I can’t do messages right now’ error when opening messages on their vehicle’s infotainment unit.

Another says that their car fails to recognize the phone after the latest Android Auto update. They also mention that they get a ‘cannot start Android Auto’ notification on their smartphone.

I have upgraded phone to s23 but cannot connect to android auto in my 2019 skoda scala i have contacted skoda who has said its a samsung issue and not skoda the s23 is not compatible with my skoda.

Those impacted have already tried a myriad of fixes, ranging from device reboots to reinstalling the car app and re-pairing their devices, but to no effect.

And understandably, they are requesting the developers to fix this glitch as soon as possible.

Issue already escalated

Even though the issue has already been escalated to the concerned team, there are still no updates about the fix.

We are hopeful that Google will soon resolve this issue.

06:32 pm (IST): Android Auto team appears to be working to resolve the connectivity issue, as confirmed by Max Weinback, a known tech enthusiast.
