Motorola Android 12 update breaks 'Multi-Volume' function on Moto G40 Fusion & G60 units

If you are looking for a near-stock Android experience and a device offering a decent price-to-performance ratio, Motorola might cater to you.

While the smartphone manufacturer is really good at making both budget and premium devices, device support and updates are mediocre at best. That said, the developers recently started updating many models to Android 12.

But soon after the company rolled out Android 12, issues like mic or speaker not working on the Edge 20 and Moto G devices showing alarm icon even with no alarm set started troubling many.

Adding to the list, Motorola Moto G40 Fusion and G60 owners are now reporting that the Multi-Volume function is broken after the recent Android 12 update.

Users say it is impossible for them to change the volume of an app without changing the system volume, which is really frustrating.

Yesterday I had received the Android 12 update everything is working fine but I’m facing an issue with the Multi Volume feature for the multiple app volumes which wasn’t like that in Android 11. When I use the app with set older volume levels (as they were in Android 11), the Multi Volume feature works fine but as soon as I increased the volume level for any specific app to 100% and then tried to lower the app’s specific volume only the device volume (main volume) also gets lowered which is a problem i am facing with Multi Volume feature in Android 12.

I have updated my moto g40 fusion with Android 12 , while using Android 11 i was able to control audio output volume Increase or decrease 3 way (1) Bluetooth earphone internal audio volume control (2) media audio volume control in setting (3) Any App that gives audio output ex. “YouTube” audio volume control. Now I’m controlling audio volume plus or minus at that moment both audio controls works together (1) media volume (2) app volume

Unfortunately, we are yet to come across any official word from Motorola on the issue. But we hope they soon release an update that fixes the Android 12 Multi-Volume function on the Moto G40 Fusion and G60.
