Original story (published on August 25, 2022) follows:

The Amazon Smart Thermostat is a device that allows its users to schedule when their heat or cooling turns on, and adjust the temperature of their home from anywhere.

It uses Wi-Fi to connect with an Alexa app on your mobile phone from where you can control the Thermostat’s functions.

Amazon Smart Thermostat voice commands not working

According to multiple reports, Amazon Smart Thermostat users are facing an issue where the voice commands are not working on the device (1,2,3,4,5).

This issue starts when one uses an Alexa voice command to instruct the thermostat to set temperature. But instead, it replies back saying ‘Thermostat doesn’t support that’.

Due to this, those affected have to change the temperature manually on the Thermostat or via the Alexa app using touch commands.

Also, when users try to set up a schedule, they get 3 dots scrolling along the bottom of the screen and the scheduling fails. It happens no matter what day they select.

This has been really inconvenient for all Amazon Smart Thermostat users as they are unable to use the basic functions of a smart device.

I can not control my amazon thermostat via voice commands with my Echo or Smartphone. I have removed and re-joined my thermostat with no changes. I also deleted and reloaded the Alexa app on my phone. I can control the thermostat manually and via the smart phone using touch commands.

Some have tried basic troubleshooting methods like factory resetting the device, reinstalling the Alexa app, and renaming and removing the Smart Thermostat but the issue still persists.
