Amazon Echo is a versatile smart speaker and virtual assistant device that has revolutionized the way people connect with their homes and access information.
Powered by the intelligent voice assistant Alexa, the device has a plethora of features and functionalities that enhance entertainment and connectivity.
However, this doesn’t mean that the gadget is immune to various bugs and issues.
Amazon Echo issue with Fox News notifications
Multiple Amazon Echo owners (1,2,3,4,5,6) are facing an issue where they keep receiving news notifications from Fox News despite having disabled them in their device settings.
They have cited concerns about the trustworthiness of the news source and the inability to personalize their preferences.
Users allege that they have been receiving notifications from Alexa News, mostly from Fox, and occasionally from another provider twice a day.
Others complain that Fox News has taken over their flash briefing routine, and they couldn’t get rid of this problem by deleting and re-creating it.
One of those affected says that even though they have removed Fox News as a source from their Alexa app, it still keeps playing prolonged versions of news from the same.
They also add that it never plays news from the other sources selected in the app.
On what planet is FOX news a trusted source and why is it always on my screen. I’ve used an echo since they first came out they have all of my info plus all of my purchase history. It’s ridiculous I cannot turn off certain news sources.

Notably, this issue has been persistent for the past few months and remains unresolved until now. And those affected have taken to the Amazon digital and device support forum to ask for a fix.

Some are so frustrated and annoyed that they are thinking of returning their device if no resolution is provided soon.
Although it is quite possible that this might be happening because of a recent partnership between FOX Television Stations (FTS) and Amazon to broadcast FTS’s local news programming across Amazon’s devices.
Official acknowledgment
Fortunately, an Amazon staff member says that the issue has been reported to the concerned technical team, and they are working on fixing it. However, no official ETA for the bug fix has been provided.
Having said that, we’ll keep monitoring this issue and update the article accordingly.
