Amazon Fire TV Stick allows you to access a variety of online streaming services and content and plugs directly into the HDMI port on your TV.
However, that doesn’t mean it is always perfect and has no issues whatsoever. We previously highlighted an issue where it got stuck on the ‘unable to update’ error message.
We also came across a bug where the remote stopped working and Fire TV Stick apps also stopped loading.
Amazon Fire TV Stick ‘critical low storage’ issue
Some Fire TV Stick users (1,2,3,4,5) are now reporting that they frequently receive low-storage notifications, even on freshly installed devices.
Low storage Fire TV Stick
I have tried everything on the internet, I’ve deleted all but one app and I’m still getting the error message that there is no storage available.

According to reports, in addition to receiving these continuous notifications, some users are also being prompted to delete specific apps in order to free up space. And this has been happening for a few months now (1,2).
It is an incredibly frustrating issue as users are seemingly being prohibited from performing tasks like installing apps or OS updates. It seems that resetting the Fire TV Stick and the factory settings don’t seem to help either.
Since general troubleshooting steps aren’t working for those affected, one of the users suggests Amazon increase the storage capacity. This will hopefully help them get rid of the constant ‘Low storage’ alerts too.
Fix is in the works
The bug was supposedly fixed as of April 22, according to Amazon support. However, we continue to see updated reports from people impacted (1,2).
But the good part is the continuous acknowledgments from the support. It implies that they are working to fix it and are aware that it still exists.
We hope that the developers soon find the root cause of the issue where the Amazon Fire TV Stick users are getting a ‘critical low storage’ alert.
We’ll keep tabs on the latest developments and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
