Apple is gearing up for the release of the next iteration of its mobile operating system i.e., iOS 15. The iOS 15 RC (Release Candidate) is out which indicates that the stable release might be around the corner.

The recently unveiled iPhone 13 series is also slated to offer iOS 15 out-of-the-box. On the other hand, the iOS 14 is still the latest stable release and the iOS 14.8 update came out a couple of days ago.

However, an issue has been troubling iOS users for quite some time now. As per multiple reports, the iOS Clock alarm has not been working with lossless audio files from Apple Music.

This issue has been around ever since Apple released lossless audio for Apple Music users on iOS or at least since iOS 14.6. Also, Apple has not made any comments on the matter so far which further complicates matters.

Apart from that, reports even outline that this problem is present on iPad as well. Thus it is unclear whether Apple is working to fix this problem or not as the tech giant is yet to provide more clarity on the matter.

As the title says…after turning on lossless my alarm does not play the song chosen from Apple Music. It’s just vibrates. Luckily the iPhone has a great haptic motor and the vibration alone woke me lol Does anyone have any ideas?

Not only my iPhone but also my iPad can’t play the music with the Lossless label in the Alarm. If I set the music without the Lossless label, the alarm can go off.

Some workarounds for this problem include purchasing the lossless songs as ringtones from the iTunes Store or downloading the High Quality (AAC) versions from Apple Music instead of Lossless or High Res Lossless.

However, these workarounds are far from efficient as it makes no sense in paying for ringtones if one is already an Apple Music subscriber. Moreover, the second workaround defeats the purpose of setting lossless audio files as alarm tones.

While users were hoping that the issue with the alarm not working with lossless audio files might be addressed in future iOS updates, it is still inconveniencing them after the iOS 14.8 and iOS 15 RC updates.

Like iOS14.7, iOS 14.8 doesn’t entirely fix the issue. iOS14.7 update makes the alarm ring with the Radar sound by default rather than the lossless quality music I pick from Apple Music.

As mentioned earlier, the iOS 15 stable update is about ready to roll out to general public so there is still some hope that the latest OS update might include fixes for this problem.

However, this is still based on speculation and only time will tell whether or not the Cupertino giant will allow iOS users to use Apple Music lossless audio files as alarms without any hassle.

That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will report back as and when we get some new details to share so stay tuned.
