1Password users have lately been facing an issue where the extension is not working or loading after installing the recent update. Strangely, they get an ‘oops, something went wrong’ error when trying to load it.

The 1Password extension is, for sure, a good approach to securely store and autofill your passwords, credit card numbers, and other sensitive information.

However, by looking at the reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), it appears that users are having difficulties logging in to different websites. And this is because they cannot access the passwords saved in the 1Password manager.

As per the allegations, the extension fails to load and throws an ‘oops, something went wrong‘ error on opening it.

Notably, the majority of users are experiencing this issue while using Chrome and Safari web browsers. However, those who use other browsers, like Microsoft Edge, are also facing similar problems.

Users have also noted instances where they would just get a blank page on loading the extension. And to make matters worse, they are not even getting suggestions for autofill like they typically would.

Unfortunately, following the common troubleshooting steps like reloading the extension or the browser, restarting the devices, or tinkering with different settings seems to have no effect.

@1Password Hey just updated to the latest version and the browser extension no longer works. Latest Edge too, restarted PC, browser etc. Any ideas?

The issue has been persistent ever since the v2.14.0 update and affects users across multiple platforms. And understandably, users have taken to Reddit and Twitter to ask for a fix.

Luckily, the 1Password support team is aware of the issue and is currently working on fixing it. They have also recommended that the affected users try following the steps mentioned in this troubleshooting guide.

Potential workarounds

Fortunately, we have come across some potential workarounds that might help solve your problem. First, it is recommended that you clear the browser’s cache, relaunch the app, and use the extension.

If that doesn’t help, you can try signing out and logging back in to your 1Password account.

Alternatively, you can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension for a potential fix. And as a last resort, switch to a different web browser like Brave, Libre Wolf, Opera, or Waterfox.
