Update 30/01/26 – 03:10 pm (IST): Blizzard has finally acknowledged the problem with a post on X. The company says, “We’re currently investigating an issue affecting our authentication servers, which may result in failed or slow login attempts.”
They haven’t provided an ETA for a fix. So we’ll just have to wait and see how long the outage lasts.
Original article published on January 30, 2026, follows:
Players trying to log into World of Warcraft and Overwatch 2 in the past hour or so are running into a wall of errors. Downdetector is showing massive spikes across both games, plus Battle.net itself. The issues started hitting around 2:30 AM ET, with users stuck in login loops or getting booted mid-game.
Reddit and X are lighting up with frustrated posts. One Overwatch player asked if anyone else was getting login errors, while another joked about checking if servers were down and stumbling across “the most coom brained, racist list” instead.
Over on the WoW subreddit, users reported getting kicked during dungeon runs and stuck at the “logging into game server” screen. US servers like Durotan, Kirin Tor, and Thrall appear affected, along with Oceanic realms including Dath’remar and Barthilas.
Some players are speculating this might be a DDoS attack, though Blizzard hasn’t confirmed anything yet. An Overwatch Reddit thread showed people stuck relogging and waiting in queues that just fail repeatedly.
Players are equally annoyed, with some saying they just wanted to “play and girlrot” before getting hit with server errors. At least one person complained they couldn’t even access Battle.net support to file a report about the outage.
There’s no official word yet on when things will be back up and running. But I suspect things will return to normal shortly.
