If you’ve been running into bugs or issues with Floorp, you might want to install the latest update ASAP.

The team dropped a pretty big v12.18.0 update a few days ago, with a new Hub and an experimental idle memory reclaim tool. Of course, big updates like this almost always drag in a few bugs.

To fix things up, the devs just pushed out Floorp v12.18.1. This one’s just a maintenance patch, so it’s still running on Firefox 156.0.1 under the hood. The update is all about smoothing out usability and interface issues.

Most of the headaches were with the Panel Sidebar. If you hid it and tried to bring it back, sometimes it just wouldn’t show up. Even worse, old settings could break things so badly that panels wouldn’t load at all. According to the release notes, Floorp now restores the default panel data if your saved info gets messed up, so the whole sidebar won’t break anymore.

Tab management finally gets some love too. If you use tab stacks, you probably saw your scroll position jump around every time you switched stacks. That’s fixed now, and dragging tabs between windows or stacks should feel a lot smoother.

There’s also a fix for multi-row setups where new tabs used to land in the wrong spot if you had tab groups. Plus, unloaded tabs now show the reload button when you hover, but won’t wake up the page until you actually click it.

Typing in web forms should be less annoying now. Earlier builds had this odd bug where keyboard shortcuts would trigger while you were typing or using an IME. If you’re on a Mac and had issues with Option-key shortcuts or right-click gestures freezing after closing windows, things should work better now.

Web apps got some attention too. Floorp now has proper macOS launcher integration for installed PWAs, so you can rename, repair, or uninstall them just like regular apps.

  • Fixed the Panel Sidebar not returning when re-enabled after Floorp started with it disabled. Firefox vertical tabs and the selected panel are now preserved when it is restored.

Tabs and Workspaces

  • Improved middle-click closing and drag-and-drop between stacks and browser windows.
  • Fixed incorrect insertion positions in multi-row tab bars containing tab groups.
  • Unloaded tabs now show the reload button on hover without loading until the button is clicked.
  • Workspaces now preserve Firefox’s setting for whether a window closes when its last visible tab is closed.
Keyboard Shortcuts and Mouse Gestures
  • Fixed Option-key shortcuts sometimes not being recognized on macOS.
  • Prevented keyboard shortcuts from firing unexpectedly while typing or composing text with an IME.
  • Keyboard state is now reset when a window loses focus, preventing stale key presses from triggering shortcuts.
  • Fixed mouse gestures becoming unresponsive after opening and closing another window, along with issues involving context-menu timing during right-button gestures.
Appearance and PWAs
  • Fixed tab-group lines being obscured by selected or hovered tabs in the Fluerial design.
  • Fixed transparent Zen mode toolbar backgrounds blending into page content.
  • Restored the correct top-positioned find-bar layout on Firefox 156.
  • Fixed an empty strip remaining visible when the PWA toolbar was disabled.
  • Added macOS launcher creation for installed PWAs, including repair, rename, and uninstall handling.

With this quick desktop cleanup and the recent Floorp public beta launch on iOS, the devs are really on a roll. You can grab v12.18.1 through the browser’s updater or just download it straight from their website.
