Mozilla has been working to address some of the most pressing issues with Firefox Sync, and the company is seeking assistance with making the correct choices. The company’s browser team created a Reddit post asking for input from Firefox users about what features they desire and what aspects of the tool cause confusion.
The team wanted to hear from people who use the tool to keep their data synchronised across devices about what they want the service to do and don’t want it to do. The Mozilla employee who posted on Reddit said, “We would love your input on what you expect Sync to do and where it might confuse you.”
The company has already been testing some big changes for Firefox, including the Nova redesign. So this is yet another example of Mozilla asking for feedback from the community.
However, if you attempted to utilise the survey, there is a high possibility that you missed your opportunity to provide suggestions. It appears that the demand for responses far exceeded what Mozilla anticipated, since the survey was completed and closed only a few hours after the post went live.
Apart from that, some of those who managed to get in before the survey was closed were immediately disqualified from completing the survey if they selected a default browser option on their mobile device, or if they only used three devices.
When the survey became unavailable only a few hours after its publication, the Reddit comments were filled with user suggestions. The most requested modification was for Sync to begin storing toolbar arrangement settings so that users would not have to adjust their buttons every time they switched computers. “My biggest gripe with it is that it doesn’t save toolbar customization,” one commenter wrote.
Other users requested additional functions such as synchronising extension settings, search engines, and desktop and mobile bookmark folders so that they did not have to search two separate lists.
That said, there is no indication of when any of the requested Firefox improvements will be implemented. Still, the hope is that Mozilla will work on the top issues users have raised and address them soon.
