Vivaldi snapshot 4133.3 update brings address bar calculator, VPN fixes, and more

The latest Vivaldi snapshot update brings a bunch of important changes, including a calculator tool directly in the address bar, various bug fixes, and more.

This is a list of the important user-facing changes:

1. This is the headline feature: A local calculator. Basically, you can do simple math calculations directly in the address bar. You can enter something like 15+29 or 45/5 directly in the address bar and get the results, much like Spotlight Search on Apple devices. This also works offline.
2. When you hide the address bar using Auto Hide, sometimes parts of the browser UI were still visible at the top. That visual glitch has been fixed.
3. Break Mode wasn’t properly showing the custom background image if you were using a theme different from the “Unified” style. That’s fixed now.
4. Many older extensions still use Manifest V2. While Chrome is slowly killing support for them (for example, uBlock Origin shipped its last update possibly), Vivaldi is actively keeping them alive and extending support for them to keep them working, though they’ve also said it’s unclear how long they can keep V2 extensions up and running. Things might change once Chromium fully drops support.
   
5. If you use a VPN extension, Vivaldi was repeatedly asking for a username/password even if you’ve already entered it. This won’t happen after the update.
6. The disappearing web panels issue has been fixed.
7. Cleaned up UI for PWA (Progressive Web Apps) installation.
8. The experimental horizontal pinned tabs feature has been disabled by default. If you want to, you can enable it via flags. It’s not yet ready.
9. Some disappearing scrollbar bugs have been addressed.

Note: All these issues have been fixed in a snapshot, which is a preview of upcoming features/fixes. It’s not a stable release and isn’t recommended for daily use. You can grab the Snapshot from here if you’re interested in trying it out.
