A new update to Dia on macOS brings some minor changes. The latest version is v 1.38.0 (82907), and the main update is with Notion integration and New Tabs.

The changelog was posted officially on Dia Weekly. It starts off listing a feature roundup that the employees use, followed by a rather vague changelog. You can take a look at it below.

These are the changes, with more elaboration:

  1. Out of sight, automatically off your mind: In simpler terms, it prevents your sidebar from getting very cluttered. If you move away from a New Tab page after opening it, the tab will automatically clear itself. This avoids an influx of empty and pointless new tab pages, cluttering the sidebar. It will require less cleanup now, and your browser stays more organized when you switch to another app and leave Dia. This was shipped by a Dia employee, Rishi.
  2. An improvement to workspaces: Under Settings -> Apps, you can explicitly choose which Slack/Notion workplace you want your Dia AI tools to connect to. This helps with random/default selections and unpredictable behavior. If you have multiple workspaces in Slack or Notion, you can now pull the correct context. This was shipped by Ali and Rosey.
  3. This is just a cosmetic change, and it says that the release notes will be presented in a “newspaper” format. It’s a polish to the UI that makes reading more pleasant. The change was handled by Kasper.

It’s worth noting that no change to the Chromium version was mentioned in the changelog.

I’ve checked on the Dia browser myself, and sure enough, the update started downloading right away. Just click on “Dia” (next to the Apple logo), and find the update option. It should begin automatically.

Commentary online also echoes my personal opinions: Dia is missing browser workspaces, mini windows, and seamless switching, which many competing browsers already have. The company should focus on adding more browser basics.

In a previous update post, we mentioned that the Spaces feature has now been pushed to July. It’s unclear when it’ll arrive in July, since the first update for July is already here… and there’s still no information on it.
