Many people on the X Android app are unable to post or reply because the app displays a “Failed to send post” pop-up.

Following this, it just stores your posts or replies in the drafts. The volume of reports appears high, since it even shows up on X trending pages. You can find several complaints in the images below.

X failed to send post error.

I’ve checked for the issue myself, but posts and replies go through normally on the regular X Android app. However, switching to the “New X Android app” that’s under testing triggers the error, and I’m unable to send any replies.

Failed to send post error on X.

I’ve noticed that original posts still go through normally. It’s for replies that the app throws the “Failed…” pop-up.

As is common with bugs, it’s not affecting everyone in the same way. Commentary online talks about the X Android app in general, and not just the new app or the X Lite app. Complaints aren’t isolated to one specific version of the app.

Fortunately, there are some simple workarounds. For now, you can try switching to the web version (directly access x.com through a browser, and don’t open the app). Replies and posts work normally there.

Additionally, you can try clearing the app data and signing back into the app. This may clear the issue, as some users have posted.

Clear app data.

Log out.

You can also try switching back and forth between the new and old X apps (if you have access to the testing version). If not, there are some reports that clearing the app data may help fix the issue. I’ve tried clearing the cache, but it triggers the same error regardless, so I don’t think it’ll help much.

Switching accounts doesn’t resolve the problem, and private accounts are affected as well.

Additionally, the issue does not occur on the iOS app, and I’ve checked for this myself. A vast majority of reports are from some version of the Android app.

At the time of writing, X hasn’t issued an official statement about the bug or acknowledged it. The company might patch it silently; keep an eye out for new versions of the X app on the Play Store.

In other X news, the company has started suspending accounts that use AI to reply to posts. You can read about that here.
