TikTok appears to be quietly rolling out a new Story Highlights feature, giving users a way to keep their Stories visible on their profiles long after the usual 24-hour expiry limit.

The feature has started appearing for more users in recent weeks, despite TikTok making no major announcement about it. Screenshots shared online show a new prompt on profiles reading: “Create Story Highlights for your profile.” Once tapped, users can select old Stories, group them together, and pin them to their profile as Highlights.

Naturally, reactions are mixed.

Some users are accusing TikTok of trying too hard to become Instagram, especially since Instagram Highlights have existed for years. Others simply like the idea of preserving favorite Story moments instead of watching them disappear after a day.

Either way, if the feature has landed on your account, here’s how it works.

How to create TikTok Story Highlights

1. Open your TikTok profile

Head to your profile page and look for the new Story Highlights prompt. Some users are seeing a banner that says “Create Story Highlights for your profile,” as seen in the screenshot above.

2. Tap the prompt

TikTok will open a New Highlight page where you can start building your Highlight collection.

3. Select old Stories

You’ll then see your archived Stories. Pick as many as you want to include in the Highlight. This is basically TikTok letting you rescue Stories from disappearing forever.

Want a travel Highlight? A music one? A chaotic meme dump? Go for it.

4. Name your Highlight

Once you’ve selected the Stories, give the Highlight a name. Keep it short and relevant so profile visitors instantly know what it contains.

5. Tap “Create”

Hit the Create button, and TikTok will automatically place the Highlight on your profile for others to view anytime.

So what’s the point of TikTok Story Highlights?

Story Highlights make TikTok profiles feel more curated and personal. Instead of Stories vanishing after 24 hours, users can now organize and showcase moments they want people to keep seeing. For creators, this could become another way to highlight events, trips, projects, or behind-the-scenes content without posting permanent videos to the main feed.

The rollout still seems limited for now, but reports suggest availability is expanding to more users globally. And while the Instagram comparisons are impossible to ignore, TikTok clearly believes users want a way to preserve Stories beyond a single day.

Honestly, at this point, social apps copying each other is practically a feature of the internet itself.
