It looks like the popular film logging platform Letterboxd is completely broken on the web and mobile apps today. This is the third major server outage for the service in just four days. Users trying to update their profiles are just hitting dead ends.

The company confirmed the crash in an official post on X this afternoon. The social media team noted they are doing their best and appreciate the patience of their community.

Still, many reports are lined up on X from film fans staring at frozen screens. The live search feed is full of complaints from around the world.

Meanwhile, on Reddit, one thread on the r/Letterboxd subreddit has people complaining that the app locks up the second the launch icon appears. Another user pointed out that this is the first time the web version has completely failed alongside the mobile app this week.

In a separate thread, users are just begging the platform to let them log their films. One user said they finally got around to watching Mad Max 2 right as the servers died.

The graph on Downdetector suggests that users began experiencing issues with the platform a few hours ago.

Some users are visibly frustrated and threatening to export their account data the second the site comes back online. For now, there is no estimated time for a fix. Everyone just has to wait until the servers wake up.

I cover fast-moving stories across apps, online platforms, and everyday tech — phones, wearables, consoles, and whatever else people are fighting with this week. Bugs, rollouts, scams, policy enforcement, and the occasional internet-culture rabbit hole are all fair game. My goal is simple — make confusing tech news readable. When I'm not working, I'm working out or chilling with my dog. Got a tip? You can find me on X @dcubbins.
